Commissioning a Portrait Sculpture
Timings:
Often made over two to three days. Each portrait could take anything from 4-12 hours of sculpting. These sessions would be broken up with breaks and conversation, all vital to getting the portrait right. Generally, a morning session, an afternoon session, then one last session the following morning has sufficed, often fitting into a weekend.
It is preferable for the sitter to come to the studio, though travel has been made to clients' homes.
Busts can also be made posthumously from photographs.
The lead time for plaster is approximately 2 weeks from completion. A bronze resin would be about a Month, and a Bronze is 2-3 months.
